I started in roofing and window sales with Window Nation, HomeFix Custom Remodeling, Capital Remodeling, and a few others — commission only, walking neighborhoods for eight hours at a stretch. I know what it feels like to generate a lead at someone's doorstep, write it down on a clipboard, text it in — and then watch nothing happen. Lead sits in the office. Someone mishandles the paperwork. Nobody follows up. Three weeks later the homeowner's got another contractor on their roof. The commission I should have closed is gone and I'll never know why.

Then I ran the other side of the business.

I owned a home improvement business for a stretch — simultaneously the owner, the salesperson, the ops manager, and the guy whose phone rang at 11 pm while he was trying to put his kid to bed. Missed calls I wouldn't find until the next morning. Web form submissions that died in a Gmail folder I rarely opened. Rep texts that never made it into the system because I was on a roof. The business worked, but I was the glue holding a leaky bucket together — and every lead that slipped through was money that funded some other contractor's truck payment.

Then I spent a decade in tech sales.
